Hello and welcome to my site!

So you’re here to find out what I’ve been up to the last thirty something years to be illustrating children’s books?

As a child I enjoyed scribbling on scraps of paper, cardboard boxes and even my parents' piano, which was rather silly considering I signed my name next to my creation. Trying to convince my parents it was their other daughter for the next 45 minutes proved a waste of time and did not lessen the punishment.

Art class was by far my favourite subject at school, and my art teacher Mrs Benson must have seen an inkling of something as she took me under her wing for 2 years. I attended The University of Western Sydney studying Visual Arts though I found this did not feed my appetite for drawing, so I enrolled in a two-year part time course at the Billy Blue College of Design.

In 1996 I was accepted as a Trainee in-betweener for Walt Disney Animation Australia, a career path I never knew existed. Disney offered an intensive 3-month training program to become an in-betweener, and once through, areas such as life-drawing, animal and human anatomy were all part of our learning. There was sweat, blood and lots of tears, but this was a brilliant opportunity not only to learn the fundamentals of animation and illustration, but also to meet and work with a group of talented people that are still my friends today. *sigh*

I ventured on a different path for about 8 years, which saw 2 of them in the UK. I continued creating where ever I could, designing greeting cards, stationery, spot illustrations for magazines as well as commissioned work for advertising and design agencies.

In recent years I found myself picking up books thinking this is what I'd love to do. In March 2009 my job ended and I decided to follow in the footsteps of my fellow Disney colleague, Tina Burke, into the book world. I invested 2-3 months into creating new artwork to send to publishers in Australia and the UK and within 3 months I had landed my first contract. It's been a fun filled 2 years in the publishing industry with 12 books completed and 4 lined up to welcome in the new year!
